WOW! Two entries in one day!!!! I talked to my agency coordinator and I have to sit through orientation with the one woman from my class I don’t like AND we have to share an office. This sucks! I was hoping not to have to interact with her and now this. Yuck! I have to share a computer and everything with her. And anyone who knows me knows how I don’t like to share…especially my computer!!!!! I guess the honeymoon phase with my agency is over before it even began!!!!!!! Ugh…I am really going to have to try to change my attitude about this otherwise I will be miserable for the next 6 months.
In better news, there are 3 or 4 events for me to attend before I start my orientation. I wonder if there are always this many events or if it is just because October is Domestic Violence Awareness month.
I’ve been so bad at updating this site. Lots of things have been going on around here so I’ve been a little busy.
I had 4 interviews for my social work internship. I ended up liking one agency which had two positions. I was lucky enough to get placed there and will be starting my internship within the month. I am really excited and also nervous about starting. I feel out of my league but I am sure it will work out fine. I actually get my own office plus a $500 stipend which is really cool.
All of my social work classes are awesome. They are like one big hippie love fest. It’s a great learning environment because everyone is so supportive. There is one woman in the class I don’t like. She is aloof and rude. She makes rude comments to people and it’s just mean. Unfortunately, she has been placed at the same agency I am at. I think she chose that agency purely because of the stipend. It sucks but I am hoping I won’t have to work with her much.
Ben has decided to end his campaign for State Representative. He explains his reasons for leaving the campaign on his website which he has turned into a blog.
I’ve also started working at my Mom and Dad’s bowling alley to earn some extra cash. I have a $1000 tuition bill plus new tires I need to buy so any extra money helps. It’s not too bad working there but it is hard on Ben and the kids because I am gone more now than I ever have been.
A friend of mine is planning a Wellstone World Music Day event in our town. It’s is memory of Paul and Sheila Wellstone and the others who died with them on the plan. There are tons of other events going on in Minnesota and some other states. I think it is a great way to honor those lives and am looking forward to the event. Wellstone Action is also holding a conference in November to launch the Sheila Wellstone Institute.
Ok-now I know there has been a lot more going on but I just can’t think of it write now.
Oh-here is the poem my sister wrote for my Grandma’s funeral. The one my sisters and I read.
