I am disturbed by the fact that our local NBC station ran commericals during President Reagan’s funeral. I’m not sure if all the national channels did that or not, but it certainly was in poor taste. At first, I thought it was finished, but then they would come back and highlight a speaker or singer. I can’t stop thinking about how disgusting the whole thing was. I don’t like televised funerals, but I understand that many people might have wanted to watch it, so I am fine with the broadcast. I just can’t get over the commericals during it. Yuck!
The nightmare of last summer’s construction came back to haunt me this week. Apparently, the construction company must have made a lot of mistakes because the city crew has been out in full force ripping up intersections and sections of the sidewalk. As luck would have it, we were one of the few who had to have portions of our sidewalk replaced. When I saw them coming with the orange cones I wanted to scream. Ok, I actually did scream. Then I got the kids screaming. Max even took in upon himself to yell out the window “Leave our sidewalk alone!” I had to explain to him that it is not nice to yell out the window at people. So I woke yesterday morning with the sounds of jackhammers and the beep of trucks backing up! I wanted to cry. I swear the construction from last summer has scarred me for life. It took most of the day, but I think they have everything fixed. When I woke up this morning, everything was back to normal. Ugh! I could cry just thinking about last summer’s construction mess!!!!
