This vacation has been wonderful and I still have a week left.

I finished my U of M grad school application. I doubt I will get in there because it is so competitive, so I also applied at Augsburg. I don’t think I will know anything until March. I hate having to wait.

I also started applying for jobs. I figure I have to pay back these student loans somehow and I might as well get started. We’ll see if anything turns out. After my internship is over, I will start to look more seriously.

Today we took the kids for a ride on the LRT. I didn’t think Jaycie would like it, but she ended up loving it. We only rode to the airport and back, so next time we will take them to downtown to visit something.

Tomorrow we are off to the Science Museum to meet Tiff and the kids. Max is so excited. He doesn’t think he will sleep tonight. Funny kid.

Well back to doing nothing…

Thirty.

Well…now I am thirty. Ugh! It has been a wonderful birthday so far. Ben and I went to the Packer/Viking game this afternoon. We had awesome tickets-6th row on the 25 yard line behind the Packer bench. I was actually able to see Brett Favre’s face. The game was awesome and the Packer victory sealed the deal. We rode the LRT to and from the game. On the way there it was cool, but on the way back we had to wait for an hour to get on the train. Ben was only wearing a windbreaker. He was freezing. I had on my winter coat and mittens, but my feet froze. It took us 3 hours to get home after the game ended. Then we went to my Aunt’s house to celebrate Christmas with my Mom’s family. My sisters gave me my birthday gifts. I got the Wellstone! documentary, SIMS, a book of pictures, Caribou card, and the new Cure cd. All that great stuff and I still have another 2 days of presents. I love Christmas!

Tomorrow we are off to my Mom and Dad’s to celebrate Christmas with just our family. Then Sunday we are going to Chippewa to celebrate with Ben’s family. Fun! Fun!

Monday will be our resting day and maybe some shopping too!!!

Happy Holidays!

Ugh!

Here is another good article describing a lot of the same things I see at my internship.

Ugh! The comment spammers are pissing me off. I am not sure how to prevent them from commenting. I’ve blocked the IP, deleted the comments, and disallowed html and active links in the comments section. I checked out mt and they are working on the issue, but is so damn irritating!

A small victory.

This is what I deal with at my internship. Luckily, we have a good group of faithful donors, but not this company who just withdrew its donation of bread and pastries to local food shelves.

Classes are all done for the term. I even finished my final papers which weren’t due until next week. I am looking forward to having a month of nothing to do and nothing to worry about. Well, actually I have to finish my grad school application for the U of M, but other than that I am going to enjoy every minute of not having to think too hard. I think I did well in all of my classes, but we’ll see after grades are posted on the 20th.

My internship is going fairly well. I like the direct client work, but often feel like I can’t think quick enough to help these people. There are so many issues that I have a hard time sorting through them in a 15 minute time span. It also doesn’t help that many of them need far more things than I can give them at the agency. While some of the issues are related to the people themselves, many of them are systemic issues. The projected budget deficit doesn’t help the situation. Ugh! So much to do, so little time and resources!
