Fee versus Tax
The Taxpayers League of Minnesota and Rep. Matt Entenza actually agree on something, while Gov. Pawlenty is still playing with the semantics.
“There is no question with the Health Impact Fee you are really talking about
Are all those Elk River Republicans turning Green or is this article about the ultimate in suburban selfishness. I thought I would feel sorry for the residents but I don’t. I think they are over-reacting because the want their “view” back. Yikes!
From Wellstone Action:
Please save the date of Sunday, September 25, 2005 to join us for the dedication of the Wellstone Memorial and Historic Site in Eveleth Minnesota.
On six acres of wooded land, the site will be a place of commemoration and reflection where people can learn about Paul and Sheila’s life and work. We hope that this helps people remember the spirit and ideals of the friends we lost that day.
The design for the Memorial is meant to preserve the site’s beautiful natural setting with minimal environmental impact. Some materials and labor are being donated to keep the overall cost to just $250,000. Work on the site started in June and will be completed by the dedication date, September 25th, 2005.
Because of generous support from thousands across the country, we’ve raised $220,000 which means we only have $30,000 to go. If you haven’t already, please consider making a special contribution to help us meet our goal.
Please help us complete this project to commemorate the life and work of Paul and Sheila Wellstone. Please click here to make a tax deductible donation!

Ben just found this site. I’m so excited to start reporting all those bad drivers out there!!!! I’m seriously going to carry paper and a pen everywhere I go. Oh Happy Day!!
Here’s a couple of interesting reads:
The kids are back. We picked them up on Friday and they seem to be happy to be home. It’s been a weird weekend. My Dad spent two days in the hospital and I have done nothing but read the new Harry Potter book. It was a good read, but I’m so sad. I need to find a more uplifting book to read. In the last two weeks or so, I have read nothing but sad books.
Yesterday, Ben and I dropped the kids off at his parents house. I was supposed to be on my way to Florida, but there was a last minute change in plans, so I am here and the kids are gone. We don’t pick them up until Friday which means I have five days of peaceful bliss. I woke up this morning expecting to hear them playing or fighting but there was nothing but silence. I think my ears are ringing because of the quiet. I want to get some major cleaning done before their return. Jaycie’s room is so messy and out of control so I’m tackling that one first. I’m also hoping to get some painting done too, but we’ll see how that goes.
Supreme Court Justice O’Connor Retiring…
Government shut downs to a vacancy on the Supreme Court all in one day! This is too much for me to handle. I’m completely freaking out that O’Connor is retiring. I was expecting Rehnquist. Now, if he does retire, Dubya will get two. There goes everything! I’m going to have to focus all my efforts on this. So much for getting a real job!
The Board of Social Work is closed due to the government shutdown.
So, I can’t get my license until this little shut down is over. Amazing! This whole shut down thing is such a game. They all look like idiots as the point the finger at each other. I don’t think Pawlenty knows what the word “negotiate” means and then the Senate checks out early last night. I hope this has some repercussions in the next election cycle. The problem is that if it is not directly affecting our lives we tend not to care. My Representative called the government shut down a minor inconvenience. For him maybe, but not for the thousands of State employees who will be temporarily laid-off. Yuck! Politics in this state are at their worst. I wonder how long does a government shut down last? And will it save us any money?
